Mendon May Day— 1977May Queen Lisa Bird

Picture Caption: They’ll Reign at Mendon May Day Activities— Lisa Bird will be crowned as Mendon’s May Queen Saturday morning at the start of Mendon’s May Day activities. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Bird of Mendon. In the queen’s court will be Annette Yonk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Yonk; Nicole Bowen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bowen; Jolene Bodily, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ned J. Bodily; Sherri Porath, daughter if Mr. and Mrs. Tom Jones, and Mary Jean Barrett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanton Barrett. The girls are all juniors at Sky View High School.

May Day Program: Mendon Ward Chapel. We welcome you to our May Day festivities and especially welcome our former queens. We hope you will enjoy the day with us and have a good time. Introduction of Queen’s Court, Betty Bartlett; speaker of the day, Merlin Yonk. Afternoon Events: Children’s races 1:30 p.m.; Explorer softball game, 2:30 p.m.; commercial softball game, 4:00 p.m., Baker-Barrett vs. Saltern Construction; married and single game for those who didn’t get in any of the previous games, 5:30 p.m.; Mendon dairy Princess Program, 6:30 p.m., in the cultural hall; May Day dance, 8:30 p.m., music for the dance will be by “Music of Aspen” band. Following the program and throughout the afternoon, home made food will be for sale. Under the direction of the Sunday school officers and teachers. Water Fighters Celebrate Mendon May Day— A young Mendon water warrior gets hit squarely in the head with a water-filled balloon during Mendon May Day festivities Saturday. Among the events which took place on the Mendon town square were the crowning of the Queen of the May, the May Day program, children’s games and races, the traditional tug-o-war, and explorer softball game, the Mendon dairy princess pageant, and the maypole dance. Music for the event was furnished by the “Music of Aspen.”
